The two parts are fitted together and open/close perfectly and the removable hand scanner at the back is a fun feature. My only little gripe is I feel the colour is very slightly off and should be more metalic in this DS9/VOY version rather than the matt grey of the earlier TNG ones. In terms of the colour I actual used to make this prop in a shiny silver but had feedback from many buyers that it looked off and a little cheap so i changed to colour to be similar to the Playmates versions and replaced all the silver ones sold. If i was to make a perfect silk silver version it would have to be sanded and painted which would increase the price considerably. Thanks š

In comparison to other tricorder builds, the labels are high quality and are laminated, so they are not going to peel off or rub away over time with use. The detachable hand scanner is great and the magnets are strong enough so it does not fall out. Yes i do like to go the extra mile with my props and as such have all the graphics for my models professionally printed on Vinyl which is fade and UV resistant.
