Not only was it encased in two cardboard boxes, but there was a removable plastic film to all the sides covered in white gloss finish. This plastic film helped, when drilling holes through the panel for the handle. The item was exactly as I was expecting and it did not take long to replace the old, peeling gloss panel to the face of the integrated dishwasher.
