Good entry smart player
We had a PS3 which was only used for streaming services. That died so rather than forking out for a games machine which would only be half utilised, opted for this player. Start up and disc load time is good. Menus, Netflix and Amazon are quick enough. Not quite as quick as the PS3 or Roku but certainly within acceptable limits. Haven't used any of the Bluetooth, mp4 or DLNA features so can't comment on them. Would have been 5 stars if there was a Now TV app.We had a PS3 which was only used for streaming services. Good entry level player.
Bought for me pensioner mum to watch Amazon and Netflix and so she could borrow my blurays. Quite simple to use which is what I wanted. Doesn't have a great catch up service, only BBC and Channel 5but very few do unless you want to spend real money. Easier to buy a separate top box with this player. It has all you need for the basic but more important easy to use for pensioners.

Great player....just not EVERY disc!
The item is excellent in all, but in one area... Unfortunately it will NOT play certain BLU-RAY discs. The discs in question are the DUAL-FORMAT discs...which feature one on DVD, and the other on BLU-RAY. Certain feature films come with DUAL-FORMAT (i.e. 2 films in one package) The player will NOT play the BLU-RAY discs....only the DVD ones. It is rather mis-leading, as the player SHOULD be able to play ALL REGIONS as stated. Keep this in mind, if you are willing to purchase. The item is excellent in all, but in one area... Exact features that I desired!
I wanted great bluray HD, adjustable screen size, great wifi, totally region free, without 3D or other newer features. I am an American in Zhuhai China and now I can play all my dvd's and blurays, most of which I have ordered from England. Fantastic unit and great additions (region free) from the seller!

Open Sesame.
Bought this to replace another new blu-ray purchased from another online retailer. That one was fine, but it wouldn’t open the disc drawer. At all. No complaint with the service from the supplier or the manufacturer. It’s just one of those things, but I wasn’t going to go back for to the same place for another opportunity to have the same experience. This Sony is the better of the two though, so it all turned out for the best.
