This second volume deals with the history of the division as it withdraws towards the East of France after the battle of Normandy until the final climactic battles in Germany, in April and May 1945. The 'GVB' were involved in the battle for Lorraine, the 'Nordwind' operation, the defense of the Westwall until its final withdrawal towards BadT lz in Germany. As in the first volume, most of the illustrations, documents and objects are original and previously unpublished. Mareover, the history of the 'GVB' is enlighten by many war veterans testimonies through the various chapters of this last volume.
