Synopsis
With gay marriage making headlines across the nation. LOVING SOMONE GAY is perhaps more relevant--and needed than ever. In the original 1977 edition. Dr. Don Clark brought the first truly positive profile of gay identity to a general audience and contributed to the groundswell of the gay rights movement. In the 1980s. AIDS forever changed not only gay communities, but also the global landscape as prejudice yielded to knowledge that the HIV virus crosses the imagined barriers of gender, sexual orientation and lifestyle. A new edition responded to the crisis. Thoroughly revised for the fourth time. LOVING SOMEONE GAY remains the most comprehensive profile of positive gay identity in print, offering courageous support and compassionate guidance for gay men and lesbians and the friends and families who love them., Thoroughly revised, this handbook remains the most comprehensive profile of positive gay identity in print, offering courageous support and compassionate guidance for gay men and lesbians and the friends and families who love them., 'Tis now about two years and three months since we first arrived at this distant country; all this while we have been as it were buried alive our hopes are now almost vanished.' Reverend Richard Johnson 9 April 1790. How did a collection of petty criminals, the outcasts of an old society, manage to establish a new society on the other side of the world? Buried Alive tells their story through original journals, diaries and letters home. They chronicle the often surprising relationship with the Aboriginal people, the hunger when store ships failed to arrive, the horrors of hangings and floggings, the intermarriage between officer and convict women and the gradual development of Sydney Cove.

- 5***5 (65)- Feedback left by buyer.Past monthVerified purchaseThe book arrived quickly and in good condition. It was sealed in plastic and packaged well. The seller took a while to get back to me when I first messaged them, but did ultimately reply. I would buy from this seller again.
- i***m (479)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseOverall, my experience was positive. This book was listed as New condition in shrink wrap. The book was most certainly not new - there was a sticker residue on the inside and some pages were stained. The shrink wrap was not placed on it by the publishers. Someone wrapped it in saran wrap later. The book was generally in fine condition and the packaging was sufficient - mailer with cardboard supports. Not sure why listing offers best offer choice if best offer is 1 dollar less than full price.
