Turn it on and it works without needing to pair it again. Both buttons actually do trigger the shutter for stills and video on my Samsung Galaxy A33 android phone. I like that the device has a tag to connect a lanyard to it, to hang around my neck. The plastic does seem quite brittle, though, so it remains to be seen how long it will last. So far, all is good.
