    An Ideal Mains Alarm Clock

    I thought nothing would be as good as my old, dead, LED alarm. I was wrong. Setting the time or the alarm is easy: just hold in the Time or Alarm button and use the left-hand-end of the top bar to set the hours and the right-hand-end to set the minutes. The settings are protected from mains failure by two backup AAA batteries (not supplied). The bar along the top acts as a light when the alarm is not sounding. Push it and there is just enough light to walk across the room or find the bedside light switch. Push it again and the light goes out. The alarm can be set to quiet or loud and the display is continuously variable from bright to dark. The alarm can be set or disabled at the touch of a button. When the alarm sounds, the centre of the bar along the top acts as a 'Snooze' button and ...

    Plug it in, set the time and leave it alone.

    It performs perfectly. It needs no attention from me. The display may be a bit too large for a bedside clock but I keep mine on a cabinet about 5 feet away from the bed. The brightness of the display is easily adjusted by a simple control. If, like me, you waken during the night, look up and you know the time. David
