  • Cheap and available from the 70s, 80s and 90s........but not all the same

    I have bought six. Ones with early serial numbers Axxxxxx to Fxxxxxx need a low impedance switch such as a mechanical camera shutter, and don't work with radio or optical triggers. In addition to that they have a high trigger voltage and are NOT advisable for digital cameras or low voltage radio or opto-electrical equipment. I have had a shock off the end of the Prontor-Compur cable. Ones with serial numbers Kxxxxxx and later do (in my case) work with radio or optical triggers so can be used as slave units (which is what I bought them for). BUT one needs to check that the radio or optical triggers can take the high voltage. Mine work with Panagor/Shiba optical triggers or the Sonia optical trigger rated for 400V. These do the job and are robust and easy to set up either via old ISO ...
