    Decent lens

I tested in on nature (flowers), ocean and portraits so far : * Ocean : I was surprised how quickly it focuses on ocean waves despite the homogeneous color & texture (you don't need to focus on another object first like you do if shooting a sky) * Portraits : I prefer the 18-55mm lens, as the images are crisp clear no matter the focal length. With the 50-200mm, the images are clearer at focal lengths close to 50mm. Also, magnifying the image on the computer screen in order to crop it makes it less crisp clear. Not an issue with the 18-55mm or the (Tokina) macro lens. * Nature : Nice details especially at smaller focal lengths. * The zoom ring is not smooth, it feels as if it needs ''oiling'', therefore the 4 stars. * Time will tell how durable it is. In general, I am happy with the lens so ...

Lightweight Lens with harsh zoom and slow AF

I have the NX500 camera from Samsung. My intension was to add range to the standard 16-50 power zoom lens to get closer to some of my favourite objects. My earlier camera was the Canon SX40HS with 35x zoom. The NX500 is quite impressive with the 28 Mpix APS-C chip. The NX50-200 lens is disappointing in two major aspects. The most annoying thing is that the zoom ring is hard to turn, and at the range about 130mm the turning is suddenly much heavier. Zooming while shooting video is not possible without heavy tripod. The second drawback in this lens is the autofocus function. For some reason the lens is not able to find focus in some scenes where details are quite obvious to human eye. Focus is turning back an forth far out of focus. So I'm using it on manual focusing most of the time. My ...

  • Good value for zoom

I'm setting up a dual stereo rig. So I must buy two of everything...hence look for good value. Great lens. Image sharp throughout tiny bit soft in corners at extremes 50 or 200 mm, but still good/excellent.

  • Samsung NX 50-200mm zoom

I already had the 20-50 NX zoom and I purchased this lens to to fill the long distance gap. So far I am happy with the results, most pictures are sharp and clear with great detail. lag in the auto focus, you can't rush your shots. I bought this at a great price and am happy with it.

  • Went from love to indifference

I went after this item hoping it would add value and functionality to my Samsung NX2000 that suffered from poor focusing it both high and low light conditions with the stock lens. This one was great for telescoping and manual shots but is just as bad for automatic shots regardless of the conditions.
