    Nice decor

    Base is fine and looks robust enough to stand up to many years of use but umbrella support tube is of rather thin metal and one wonders whether this is ferrous and will gradually rust from the inside as rain can enter if left outdoors with no umbrella 'plugged in'. (That's what happened to our previous unit). Perhaps a light oil spray internally at the start of use might assure long life. Time will tell!

    Not as advertised

    The umbrella base was advertised as cast iron , which is why i bought it however when It arrived it actually wasn't made of cast iron but made of a resin mixture to look like cast iron . This was marked on the box but at no time mentioned when advertised online. I am keeping it as it is too heavy and awkward to return. It does look good but I feel that I bought it under false marketing as similar items online were marked as cast iron effect but I wanted a real cast iron umbrella base. Therfore that is why im marking my review with a low score. For future reference I would advise the company that I bought the item from to truly advertise the product as 'cast iron effect' and NOT cast iron.

    Reassuringly solid and heavy

    Only had the chance to use this once so far, but it did the job perfectly. I like the adjustment screw on the side, means it will fit large and small poles securely. It has a good weight, and the wider base makes it very stable. Now all I need is some decent weather to get outside with it!

    Weight and screw

    Item is good quality and weight is as advertised however a heavier one would improve stability in light winds. Screw grip to hold pole in place has plastic internal cover and does not grip plastic pole well.

    Just like cast iron

    I love this base. It looks like cast iron, is heavy like cast iron and even feels like it. You have to really look hard and tap it to know it's poly resin. We've just had some really strong winds here and it hasn't moved an inch. I would highly recommend, especially at the price. I thought the p&p seemed a bit high but when it arrives you'll realise it's because of the weight. It was left on my doorstep due to covid and I almost feel over trying to lift it because I expected it to be on the light side.
