Darn near need a hacksaw and you cannot flatten the solder at all as it just shatters. I would prefer it to be flat and perhaps a little softer to work with. But with all that said, it does do the job well. I was very pleased with the look of the solder when finished and any exposed solder easily sanded or filed away. Other than what I mentioned above, this is top notch solder for copper pieces.
