Not sure if it’s the product OR ME but my sponge started to smell… maybe it was because I washed it once with just water and soap, but the product was fully sealed down to still in the box and the actual product. So I would say it’s safe to use on your face. I will definitely be repurchasing the refill when I run out!!! One down side is it did take a while to get here, but it did start to snow so maybe that could be why. Overall 10/10
