The internal measurement was actually 16'' on the return (side pieces) not 15'' as stated. BUT this was a bonus for us as our hearth is a one off, homebuilt one and the bonus inch gave a better fit. Our stove fitter drilled 2 holes, provided some fixings to secure it to the skirting boards (2 L brackets and black self tapping screws) and I must say it looks the business. Very pleased & recommend
