With the old buckle the strap simply never slips, at all, no matter how hard one pulls. The one purchsed on eBay does slip no matter how one threads the strap through the buckle. In my particular case this is not an issue, as the straps I am using have other components which prevent this slippage, but in some situations these buckles would not be sufficient.
