We will try our best to answer your question between 09:00 – 16:00 Monday to Friday (excluding Bank Holidays); any questions asked outside these hours will be answered the next working day.
We are unable to offer “Buy it Now” options on any of our items, unless stated. We cannot accept offers on goods outside of eBay’s policy.
PayPal is the only payment method which will be accepted for any won items. We do not accept any other type of payment.
When stated in working condition it implies that the item was powered up and a basic functionality test was performed to determine if the item was able to perform its basic functions. We are unable to guarantee or indemnify the purchaser as to the full working functionality of components of any electrical equipment other than those specified.
We are unable to guarantee the longevity of any battery life supplied with any listed item.
Returns are only accepted by prior approval. Return costs for items returned through no fault of Sussex Police or courier services employed by Sussex Police shall be paid by the buyer and will not be refunded, the outward postage cost and full purchase price of the item will be refunded on receipt of the goods in their original condition as sent. If items are received opened, used, or in any way damaged, we reserve the right to return them to the buyer at cost, or issue a refund minus any loss of value to the item.
In instances where a return is through the fault of Sussex Police or courier services employed by Sussex Police, standard postage costs not exceeding the cost of outward postage will be covered by Sussex Police, or a prepaid returns label will be provided where possible. Should the buyer choose to return by express or premium service postage, any additional cost over the cost of standard postage will not be covered and the buyer will be liable for the difference.
Please note that in order to process returns Sussex Police require photos of the item(s) and any packaging (including packaging used for posting) to evidence the claim. This is particularly important in instances of damage in transit as it is a requirement of courier firms.
VAT is applicable to any item marked ‘Police Asset’. Where this is the case the words ‘VAT applicable’ will be displayed in the listing. The amount of VAT (currently 20%) is included in your bid there is no need to make an additional VAT payment.

It is a requirement by the seller Sussex Police for any purchaser to be responsible for the return of any goods purchased under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Definitions of Words and Expressions
Found Property is an item which has been found and has not been claimed by its original owner or finder.
Seized Property is an item which has been seized by the Police in the course of their duties.
Police Assets are any Police owned property that is no longer required.
Bidding, Buying & Payment
You may bid on any item we have for sale on ebay only if you agree to comply with all of ebay’s terms and conditions as well as Sussex Police’s terms and conditions.
All auction prices are in pounds sterling (£)
All of our auctions are open to any registered ebay member regardless of their geographical location within the United Kingdom.
You, the bidder are responsible for ensuring that you have sufficient funds to cover the cost of your maximum winning bid and make payment in accordance with the applicable payment method, which is PayPal.
All items won must be paid for with 4 days of the auction end. If there are any problems meeting this deadline then please get in contact through the ebay messaging system to let us know.
Any item that has not been paid for within the deadline will result in an Unpaid Item Case being opened on the ebay resolution page.
You may retract your bid in accordance with ebay’s terms and conditions.
All auctions will run their course of either 7 or 10 days.
The maximum compensation value we are able to post/ship is £2500.00. If the item sells for more then we are unable to post the item as we are unable to get adequate postal compensation. You may of course arrange your own shipping.
All winning bids are inclusive of VAT.
Returns are only accepted if the item’s description does not match the received item or the item is received faulty when it was advertised as in working condition.
You do not need to be a UK resident to bid on any item we have for auction. If you are an employee of Sussex Police or an employee of any other UK constabulary you are also entitled to bid on any item for auction.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Question: Why don t you offer other payment methods?
Answer: PayPal is a very secure method of on-line payment and can be used by anyone with a debit or credit card regardless if they have a PayPal account.
Question: What should I do if I believe that an item is mine, in that it was lost or stolen?
Answer: Contact via the ebay messaging system immediately and if necessary the auction will be suspended while your claim is investigated. Be ready to substantiate any such claim with a detailed description of unseen damage or any other identifying features, lost property/ crime reference numbers and insurance claim details and reference numbers.
Sussex Police is committed to returning all property to the rightful owner.
Question: My item has arrived and is not as described on the item listing, am I able to get a refund?
Answer: If an item is not as described contact us via the ebay messaging system and if we have made an error in the listing we shall refund the winning bid, postage paid and the return postage upon receipt of the item. Please note we may require photographic evidence of the item and it s packaging before we can process your return.
Question: Why has the item I was bidding on been cancelled?
Answer: This can happen from time to time. In the rare cases where we have listed an item with incorrect information or the item is discovered to be different from the original listing then we will end the item immediately.
Question: Why are your postage charges so high?
Answer: We always try to put adequate postage costs on all our items. The postal charges include the packaging, the transporting costs and any additional insurance costs to send the item. We offer a dearer tracked delivery postage option on all our items.
Question: Can I collect my item?
Answer: Yes, we do offer collections in person during our office hours: Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm. If you wish to collect, please contact us via the eBay messages to schedule the collection.
Question: Why don’t you use a standard courier?
Answer: We will always try to use Royal Mail where possible, although, sometimes the cost can be quite expensive due to size/weight. Where an item is of a particular size or weight we will seek an alternative cheaper courier/shipping method.
Question: Why has my item has not arrived?
Answer: We have no control over the postal service used. All items can be tracked through the system so if your item has not arrived then please contact us via the ebay messaging system and we can look into tracking your item for you.
Question: Can you combine postage costs on multiple items?
Answer: Yes, contact us via the ebay messaging system if you have won more than one item and we will send you a revised invoice to reflect the cost of posting all items together.
