    The best recording of violin playing

    I have been listening to this recording since 1978 It is good because it is the best recording ever made of Solo Bach on the Violin That's my opinion... I am a Professional Violinist. There are a number of other recordings... many, in fact. This one marries a genuine musical understanding of the structure of Bach, together with superlative violin schooling of the Soviet era. It is a level of playing which is simply not heard or understood anymore. It is a unique document into a past era of the great Violinist, Nathan Milstein. Since neither Oistrakh, nor Kogan recorded the complete set of Sonatas & Partitas (their style was not entirely suited to this music) .. please note Kogan did record the set of 6 accompanied Sonatas with Karl Richter, and Oistrakh with Hans Pischner (hope I spelt ...

    Great Bach / Milstein!

    Excellent Remastering Of Milstein's Bach dating from the 1970's. The sound is awesome! The price is high for purchasing from Japan but the realism of the recordings is a worthy investment. Milstein's performance are the best one can find even after 45 and more years ago.
