Three edges are fringed and the top edge that would tuck over the top of pillows looked a little unfinished (not generally on show) I am going to hem the edge. I washed before first use just to make sure it was dust free as the 'tufting' process (the machine cutting the cotton fibres to make the pattern) in the making of a candlewick bedspread fabric may leave behind loose cotton fibres. I am really pleased and considering buying another!
