Remember that Asian sizes behave like gloves in the U.S.: When I buy work gloves in men's sizes, I wear an L [as in Mechanix]. But when gloves are "unisex", my size is XL. Similarly for Asian sizes, if you wear a men's size M/L or L in the U.S., you are a men's XL in Japan. But if you wish to buy a canvas Haori that is "unisex" [no gender specified] in Japan or China, then you'll likely be an XXL. Hope this helps!
