    Heavy but does the job

    I Use this on a 4 metre pole. Quite heavy but can reach the heights of overgrown apple trees I have. There is non adjustable one which may be lighter to use but needed to lop many water shoots on my trees. Good quality but generally expensive kit. However saying this it will last my lifetime!

    Wolf Garten lopper

    This lopper was bought to solve the problem of reaching higher branches. Thicknesses up to 25mm are cut easily. Thicker branches are tough going. Even though the gearing of the rope pulleys helps increase pull effort, branches at the stated max of 40mm defeated me. The lopper is quite heavy but you soon get the knack of resting it on the top of the branch to be cut so that the branch takes the weight. However, once cut through the branch it is hard to stop the lopper and extended pole crashing to the ground. Obviously this is harder to control the longer the extension handle being used. But I'm glad to have it.

    Good piece of kit.

    We bought for £40 which is well below some vendors prices.It is well made and strong, if a little expensive compared to similar mechanisms,( not designed necessarily to fit on the end of poles). Obviously some woods are harder to cut than others, so their branch thickness claims that it can cut might be considered a little over enthusiastic. It gets heavy to hold after a while. The sliding handle which can be locked to provide the optimum pull for the operator gets stuck on the cable although grips well, making it slightly awkward when changing position. Achieves results difficult to get with anything else.
