The only original actor is Richard Chamberlain.
The existing reviews on this DVD were disappointing, mainly due to the cast being different from the original star cast in The Thornbirds series. The only original actor is Richard Chamberlain. Without him this film would not be worth watching. The DVD arrived on time & in good condition..

Lacks the strength and impact of the original series of The Thorn Birds
It filled a gap I could have sensibly guessed at. The real shame for me is there is only Richard Chamberlain playing his original role. The actors in this account are shadows compared with those playing the roles originally. Rachel Ward and Bryan Brown would have made such a difference to the conviction of the storyline. The options to comment on value/entertainment/characters are limiting - they can't be just 'yes' or 'no'. The price I paid made it good value, it was entertaining because I was curious about the interpretation of the gap in the original series, I didn't find many of the characters engaging as they did not have the conviction given them by the previous actors.It filled a gap I could have sensibly guessed at. I loved the original TV series back in the 90s (I'm sitting my age now!) and I can't get enough of it. LOVE it!

I would not have liked to pay more..
The physical quality of the dvd was excellent but I'm glad I didn't pay market price. I didn't like the change in cast and had difficulty referring the plot to the books. I haven't read the book for a while and will have to do so again
