When it comes to enjoying action-packed, interactive experiences, the fictional universe of the Transformers never disappoints. Between the animated cartoons, live-action films, high-tech video games, and science fiction comic books, the series continues to revolutionize the legendary battle between good and evil with a creative mix of storylines that takes fans from the far reaches of the universe to more familiar places on earth. Produced by America’s Hasbro and Japan’s Takara Tomy toy companies, the franchise started in 1984 with a changeable toy line that was a remake of Takara’s Diaclone and Microman. The popular action figures include a mix of exciting robotic warrior factions unlike any other characters engaged in epic fictional battles. The backstory features the Autobots and Decepticons, a rival group of “robots in disguise” that transform into vehicles and weapons. Later in the series, the robots change from robots to vehicles to animals and back to robots again. The mechanical beings hail from a faraway planet called Cybertron. For the Transformers Generation One line, Takara produced the Masterpiece subline that includes an innovative remake of the toys. The results are a futuristic take on the traditional characters, further proving that there is “more than meets the eye” with these intelligent beings. The Takara Transformers Generation One Masterpiece: Ultra Magnus Robots action figure is a great example of this creative approach to adding more depth and detail to the transforming robots. As a legend, Ultra Magnus can only be topped by the infamous Autobot leader Optimus Prime himself. The two-in-one action figure is armed with two high-powered blasters and transforms from robot mode to an armored combat truck in just 25 steps. The Ultra Magus toy also includes a Minimus Ambus figure that changes from robot mode to a sleek, shiny sports car. For avid collectors, Ultra Magus’s inner box (also included), which can be folded into a trailer, makes a great display. Enthusiastic comic book fans ready to engage in another adventure can use Minimus Ambus’s power and rare loadbearer spark to assist Ultra Magnus in a heated ground attack.
