How does Click&Protect insurance work?
With Click&Protect insurance, your purchase will be protected against accidental damage and/or breakdown cover, depending on the cover type available for your product and your particular needs. If something goes wrong with your product, simply follow the 'Steps to making a claim' section of your terms and conditions which will be sent to you.
Depending on what product you purchase and your needs, Click&Protect insurance may be available for either:
- Breakdown and accidental damage cover
- Accidental damage only cover; or
- Breakdown only cover.

Breakdown and Accidental Damage- Accidental damage cover starts from purchase. Breakdown cover starts 12 months after purchase

- Theft or Loss and intentional or malicious damage.
- Breakdown during manufacturers guarantee: If your product is still within its manufacturers guarantee and the fault does not appear to be as a result of accidental damage, please contact the manufacturer for assistance.
- Cosmetic damage (not applicable to Jewellery & Furniture Products): Damage that does not affect the functionality of your product.
- Commercial Use: This policy does not provide cover for products used for business or commercial purposes.
- Damage to your product where you have not taken reasonable care to look after it: Not taking reasonable care of your product means knowingly leaving the product out of sight where another person could damage it, or knowingly using or leaving the product in an environment or circumstance where the risk of damage is materially increased.
- We will not provide cover if your product has been lost or stolen, is intentionally or maliciously damaged or where you have not taken reasonable care to look after it.
- Parts and labour coverage for repairs (excludes consumable items replaceable by you such as batteries and bulbs).
- This policy does not cover damage that naturally occurs due to normal use and ageing
- To validate your claim, you may be required to email or post a copy of your eBay sales receipt
- If your product cannot be repaired you’ll receive either a replacement product of the same or similar specification or a settlement up to the value of the original purchase price.
- Your policy will end, with no refund due, if you receive a replacement product or a settlement following a successful claim.
- You may receive a full refund if you cancel within 45 days provided no successful claims have been made and a proportional refund if you cancel after this time. A £5 administration fee is applicable to cancellations made after 45 days.
- No excess fees apply
- Covered overseas – if you’re travelling or on holiday outside the UK, you’re still covered.
- Your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 will not be affected. These include the right to a remedy such as a repair or replacement. Further information on your rights can be obtained from the Citizens Advice Consumer Helpline 0345 404 0506.
- Ensure this cover meets your needs before purchase by reading the Insurance Product Information Document and terms and conditions. This is an optional product; similar policies may be obtained elsewhere, and you should check to ensure you are not already covered under your household insurance.
Why should I get Click&Protect?
Click&Protect covers you for the mechanical and electrical failure of our eBay purchase. On some products, it also provides accidental damage cover, against physical damage to your product caused by unexpected and/or unintentional incidents that are accidental in nature. If your claim is validated and approved, Click&Protect will make sure your purchase is repaired, replaced, or we will provide you with the means to replace it. Click&Protect also covers you whilst holidaying or travelling abroad.
How do I purchase Click&Protect?
If the item you are purchasing qualifies for Click&Protect, you will see the option to purchase it directly from the item description page prior to checkout.
How long does the cover last?
All cover under your Policy will end on the earliest of:
- The expiry date shown on your Schedule of Cover; or
- The date you receive a replacement product or settlement following a successful claim; or
- The date we inform you we are cancelling your policy; or
- The date from which you inform us you want us to cancel your policy (see the full terms and conditions for more information)
What is the value covered under Click&Protect?
Dependent on the cost of your original product, your item will be covered for the cost of repair, replacement or a settlement with a value not exceeding the original purchase price of the covered product. In the event of a settlement or replacement being issued, your cover will end with no refund due.
What does Click&Protect cover?

What if I want to cancel Click&Protect?
If you have not made any successful claims and cancel this policy within 45 days from the date of purchase or receipt of the terms, whichever is later, you will receive a full refund of the premium paid and no administration fee will apply. If you cancel this policy after 45 days, you will receive a proportional refund based on the number of full unexpired months of cover remaining. A £5.00 administration fee will also apply and will be deducted from the refund value.
