Donate 10-100% when you sell for Oxfam this September and eBay will match your donation*

*up to £50,000.

What is Second Hand September?

Second hand September is Oxfam’s campaign to celebrate shopping pre-loved and raise awareness about the harmful effects of fast fashion, running between 1-30 September. Shopping second hand gives clothes a longer life by keeping them from landfill, and the money raised helps people beat povertyaround the world.

How can I take part?

It’s very simple. When listing an item, click ‘Donate a portion to charity’ in the listing flow, select ‘Oxfam’ from the dropdown and pick your donation percentage before finalising your listing. At eBay, we call this Community Selling.

What sort of things can I sell?

You can donate part of your sale to charity when you sell on eBay. However, there are some limitations on what items or categories can be included in an eBay for Charity listing. For more information, see here

Is eBay donating to Oxfam as part of the campaign?

eBay is matching seller donations up to £50,000 to Oxfam through Community Selling during the Second Hand September campaign on eBay between 1 – 30 September 2021.

When do I need to have donated by?

You must have completed your sale via Community Selling by 30 September for your donation to be matched by eBay, so be mindful of the duration of your auction listing.

Any donation after this date will still be sent to Oxfam, as is the usual process with Community Selling, and which you can do all year round.

What if I want to rescind my donation, cancel my sale or the buyer returns the item?

It may be possible to rescind your donation. You can learn more about this, and what happens if a buyer doesn’t pay for the item, here.

When will Oxfam receive the funds?

Oxfam will receive your donation within 21 days of your sale completing, and after the buyer has paid. Our partners at PayPal Giving Fund will automatically send the donation to your selected charity and send you a donation receipt.

Oxfam is a registered charity in England and Wales (no 202918) and Scotland (SC039042)
